~ Elephant Parade Photo on MyPaper ~

It was nice to see Denver & Gladys appeared on MyPaper (我报) today. We took this photo at the Singapore Zoo in conjunction with the Elephant Parade. Our kiddos did a ferocious tiger pose with the White-Tiger-Elephant. *Cute! ^_^

~ Farewell to Escape Theme Park ~

After bringing more than 10 years of fun and excitment to it's guests, Escape Theme Park has drawn its curtains down, bidding farewell to their last customers yesterday night.

Located within Downtown East, Escape Theme Park was officially opened in May 2000 with a mixture of thrill and family rides. It has been years since we last visited the park and sad to say it will also be our very last too....

26th November 2011 - Denver and Gladys entering the park... It was Gladys' first visit as well. We bought the tickets at a special promotion rate (unlimited rides for two at S$10) offered by NTUC Club thanking patrons before the theme park closes.

The staff greeted us warmly and there is a long queue for the rides. Many came to take pictures and catch a final glimpse of the park before closure.

The Central Pavilion - where all the carnival games are, welcome us upon entering the theme park.

Lets take a final look at the other rides....

The Pirate Ship is still one of the more popular rides winning a lot of screams as it swings up into mid-air.

Clowns were stationed near the exit, making balloons for everyone!

Denver & Gladys queue up for their first ride of the day - the Family Coaster.

While waiting, everybody turned around and waved good-bye at the camera man, bidding farewell to Escape Theme Park! Denver & Gladys are proud to be inside the waving crew...

The children hopped on to the planes and take flight in the sky!

Bumper boats ride - time to get sprayed, splashed and wet! Denver and Gladys can't wait to navigate their boat and have a round of water shooting game!

All WET but it was FUN!

Ferris wheel is an all time favourite for little kiddos.. You can also get a good view of the theme park at the very top.

Choo choo..... Choo choo... The children sat on the train marking their final ride in the park...

We lingered near the exit and took a group photo with the Escape Theme Park.

Making our exit, bidding farewell as the staff said Thank You!

Escape Theme Park has closed its operation after serving more than 4 million guests since its opening. It will be redeveloped to meet the changing needs of guests and details of the plans will be revealed later.

We are glad to leave our footprints at the theme park on its very last day and looking forward to see new developments and excitment to welcome its guests back once again. Thank you for the many fond and fun memories that you have left and till we meet again...

~ Opening of Punggol Point Walk & Park ~

Last Sunday marks the official opening of Punggol Point Walk and Punggol Point Park at Punggol Promenade. This area used to house the famous old seafood restaurants (e.g. Hock Khee, Choon Seng etc) during Hubby's childhood days. The restaurants are long gone and now it has a brand new look with recreational facilities for the residents near Punggol and Sengkang.

Scenery shots taken along Punggol Point Walk

Senior's Sports Day cum Opening Ceremony : Tentages were setup near the lily ponds and seniors doing their morning workouts.

Apart from jogging and cycling tracks, there is also a sand-filled playground with slide, swing and sea-saw for the children. Kiddos can play while parents take a stroll around the park and enjoy the scenery of the coastline. This is also a favourite spot for fishing enthusiasts.

We don't see swings in many of the newer playgrounds today. Denver enjoys it when he spotted one.

Gladys loves the sand.

Private horse-riding school near the park.

Seems like an area has been set aside for future food and beverage outlets development. Will we see the return of the seafood resturants that used to dominate Punggol end?

~ Birdz of Play @ Jurong Bird Park is Opened! ~

Great news! Jurong Bird Park has recently opened a new bird-themed funland - Birdz of Play suitable for children of all ages! Another playground for families to venture this December holidays!

We have not check out the new playground but based on the reports, its going to be another main attraction for families to stop by when they visit the park!

Birdz of Play has designated wet and dry play zones that are separated for toddlers and older children. There is an animal-themed playground in the Rainforest Kidzworld at Singapore Zoo and now we welcome a bird-themed funland at the Bird Park! Water sprays, giant tipping water bucket, slides plus the flying fox are not to be missed. On top of that, there is a multi-purpose pavilion where older kiddos can play games at the games room while parents do their shopping at the retail outlet.

Seems like a lot of fun!

~ Elephant Parade Singapore 2011 ~

Have you heard of the Elephant Parade?

"Elephant Parade is the world’s largest open-air exhibition dedicated to saving the Asian elephant from extinction. During a couple of months, hundreds of brightly coloured elephants swarm the streets of the city. Each elephant is a unique art object, painted by local and international artists.

At the end of the exhibition the statues are auctioned. Part of the proceeds from the auction will be donated to The Asian Elephant Foundation, in relation to saving the Asian elephant."
"
~ extraction from Wikipedia.

The first Elephant Parade was held in Rotterdam in 2007. This is the first time the elepants make their way to Asia and Singapore is their first stop!

We made our first stop to take photos of these beautifully painted elephants at the Singapore Zoo! Denver is proud to be my model for this round of photo shoot. ^_^ He tries to think of all kinds of pose based on the theme of each elephant. Very cute and professional oh!

~ Enchanting Flower Dome - Part 2 ~

There are various gardens sets within the Flower Dome where you can find plant and flower species from different countries. The Flower Field will have changing displays of flower beds to reflect different seasons and festivals.

Hubby recognised this special plant. If translated directly from Teochew, it is known as "铁钉草". Hubby says this leaf has herbal effect and it is a traditional remedy to treat injuries when people step on rusty nails in the older times.

Lotus look alike plant

Vibrant coloured flowers

I didn't recognise the names of these flowers but they are so pretty and each of them looks like a postcard.

This completes our WOC 2011 tour! We had a wonderful time! Not only did we took lots and lots of photographs within a day, it has been an eye-opener for us.

Check out the links below to recap our half day adventure!
