Chef Recipe @ Taman Mount Austin [JB]

Chef Recipe might be a familiar name to many as they have outlets across Singapore (Sengkang, Yishun, Bishan, Bukit Batok and Tampines) offering delectable western cuisine to the heartlanders at a modest price.

Now Singapore's reputable fusion restaurant has arrived in Johor Bahru with it's second outlet  officially opening in Taman Mount Austin on 6th June after successfully first setting its ground in Taman Setia Indah late last year!

We love to stay around in Taman Mount Austin as there are many restaurants, cafe and eateries within the district and we are constantly keeping a look out, trying new food. Chef Recipe may be the new kid on the block but with lots of potential.

We happened to pass by on its pre-opening and decided to go for a try.

Spacious dining space and cozy ambiance.

Chef Recipe provides mainly Chinese and Western cuisine and has a lovely variety on their menu. Whether it is breakfast, lunch or dinner, you will definitely find something that suits your liking all day.

Local Breakfast - Nasi Lemak, Mee Siam, Sandwiches, Toast
Lunch/Dinner - Western cuisine (Steak, Salmon, Chicken), Pasta, local fried dishes (Fried rice, Rice Set, Noodles), Hamburger, Sausage

There are also plenty to pick from their drink menu - from hot/cold beverage to juice and soda.

Complete your meal with a dessert! We did not get to try their Ice Bowl or Ice-cream pancake but may do so on our next visit.

So what did we ordered?

The children picked the signature Ice Milk Tea & Yuan Yang (RM5.50 each - left picture) while I go for my chill cooling cup of Lemon Grass Tea (RM4.50).

Hot drinks are often Hubby's favourite pick and he took Jasmine Tea. You can always refill with hot water after finishing the cup.

The main highlights is our main course! While Chef Recipe also offers Chinese cuisine, Western dishes are their specialty

Chef Recipe Kurobuta Pork (RM26.80) is their signature dish. At less than SGD 9, we got to try the exquisite, juicy, tender black pork that is imported from USA. Nicely seasoned, it definitely satisfy the stomachs of meat lovers!

Prime Black Pepper Steak (RM25.80). Our kids are very considerate when it comes to avoid burning a hole in our' pockets. Hence we seldom order steak which tends to be more expensive. But with less than SGD10 to have a delicious steak meal, it is indeed a very good deal not to be missed! Plus the serving portion is good with salad and plenty of potato wedges. Not to mention that the steak is grilled to perfection with its taste simply palatable!

Texas Grill Chicken (RM18.50) - Since the rest had pork and beef, I thought I will give Texas Grilled Chicken a try. Portion is big with lots of cheese sauce toppings! I think children would love this too!

Personally, I have a liking for restaurant that comes with a live band corner. Chef Recipe had its beautifully decorated with colourful paper umbrellas where you can come by to take pictures against the backdrop too! If you like to listen to some songs as you dine, do drop by at 8:30pm on every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night.

For those who like to stay on for a drink, Check out Chef Recipe Beer menu.

Our total dinner bill came up to RM117,90 (~SGD40) which is really affordable for our family of 4 to enjoy a delicious, satisfying, filling western cuisine in a decent restaurant with Live Band singing! We stayed there for 2 hours taking our time to dine slowly and enjoy our Saturday evening. Our girl loves it so much that she voted Chef Recipe as her favourite Western restaurant in JB cos it is affordable and good! We will definitely be back again!
