Japan Family Travel - Nara - Visiting the Bowing Deer + Todaiji Temple!

Video of our Nara Day Trip

Day 3 of our Japan trip brought us on a relaxing day adventure from Osaka to Nara 🌿🇯🇵

We woke up early, grabbed a simple breakfast at Mitamoto Munashi, and boarded the 7:50am train to Nara. By 8:30am, we arrived and started exploring the beautiful and peaceful city famous for its free-roaming deer and historical temples.

One of the highlights of the trip was definitely visiting Nara Deer Park and interacting with the adorable bowing deer — such a fun and unique experience! We then continued our walk towards the impressive Todaiji Temple, passing through the massive Nandaimon Gate along the way. The atmosphere in Nara felt so calm compared to the busy city life in Osaka.

We also explored the quieter corners of Nara like Nigatsu-do, enjoyed the scenic greenery around Mount Wakakusa, and ended the day with a peaceful stop at Mizuya Shrine. It was one of those slow-paced travel days that turned out to be really memorable.

If you’re planning a Japan itinerary, Nara is honestly such an easy and worthwhile day trip from Osaka!
