Where to stay in Kyoto?

Kyoto is a very popular tourist spot in Japan and finding a place to stay can be quite difficult for first timer like us especially we were wondering which area will be the best, most convenient and affordable.

After much research and pondering, we settle for HOTEL MUSSE KYŌTO SHIJŌ-KAWARAMACHI MEITETSU .

We spent 2 nights there for many reasons like Good reviews on Agoda, Google etc, proximity to popular locations, affordable pricing, comfortable space, close to train stations & convenience.

Train stations nearby Kyoto-Kawaramachi Station: about 4 minutes walk Gion-Shijo Station: about 8 minutes walk Places of interest nearby Don Quijote Kawaramachi store: about 1 minutes walk Nishiki Market: 4 minutes walk Gion: 15 minutes walk 17th-century Nijō Castle - 2km away Kiyomizu-dera - Direct bus to the area

The above are plus points for us especially since we only have 2 days in Kyoto. ========================================================== From Osaka, we took a train and alighted at Gion-Shijo station. With our luggage, we walked about 10 minutes to Hotel Musse Kyoto Shijo-Kawaramachi Meitetsu. Lobby is located at level 2 (take a lift) and there is free beverage machine where you can grab your coffee or tea. We got a connecting twin room for SGD224 per night. Room is spacious, neat and clean with all amenities that we needed are provided. Beds are extremely comfortable as they uses Slumberland beddings and I love the Bath & Shampoo provided!
