Roast & Coffee - Retro Garden 1968's (Tan Hiok Nee) : Eat In Johor Bahru

Ever since the borders opened and we can start travelling into Johor Bahru, we are back to food hunting! We have passed by Roast & Coffee - Retro Garden a couple of times when we were at Jalan Tan Hiok Nee and their other outlet at Eco Palladium. Finally got the opportunity to sit in for breakfast on our recent trip as we were either too early or it was too crowded.

Roast & Coffee started with a small noodle stall and now it is a modernized kopitiam serving a variety of Nanyang Cuisine and local delights. There are variety of interesting items on their menu and one of them is Coconut Ho Kar Sai - Rich cocoa blended with aroma of coffee and splash of coconut fragrance.

Hubby usually orders Kopi O Kosong.. but this time he tried Butter Kopi (RM3.60 - Upsize +RM1). I guess he still prefers his usual order for healthier choice. :)

Breakfast is never complete without toast and kampung eggs (RM6 for 2 sets). I ordered Double Butter & Kaya Toast (RM3.20) and Triple Toast - Butter, Kaya and Peanut Butter (RM3.90). Love to see the thick slice of butter between my toast.

I had my usual cup of Teh (RM2.60) which is pretty fragrant.

Hubby ordered Mee Rebus (RM10.90) with Otah to try and it is delicious! The portion is good too and Hubby gave a thumbs up.

Our total bill is RM35 after 6% service charge and tax. That is about $11 SGD. I would say the price is affordable and it is a pretty nice breakfast place (air-conditioned) to relax after beating the jam to cross the border. Simple retro decor and ambiance is good for a meal to start the day.
