Taiwan Trip Day 10 - Kaohsiung (高雄) | Hi Lai Harbour Restaurant (漢來海港)

10 December 2018

While planning for our trip to Taiwan, I chanced upon a video showcasing Harbour Restaurant (漢來海港) which offers All-You-Can-Eat buffet! Diners can indulge in Chinese, Western and Japanese delicacies with the seafood section being one of the most popular area.

Harbour Restaurant is well known to provide quality ingredients and hence has been a reputable and popular name with many outlets in Taipei, Taichung, Tainan, Kaohsiung and Taoyuan. We visited the Hi-Lai Harbour Arena (巨蛋店) outlet in Kaohsiung which has nine themed buffet areas and a seating capacity of 530!

Even so, it is always packed! The locals made reservations as early as a few months ago! Thankfully, we managed to get a booking upon our arrival in Kaohsiung a day before.

With the variety and quality of food Harbour Restaurant is offering, the buffet price does not come cheap. Dinner on weekdays is NT850 and is subjected to a 10% service charge. Our total bill for weekday dinner turns out to be NT3740. That is about SGD40 per pax. Though this was our MOST EXPENSIVE meal we had in our 2 weeks trip in Taiwan, we wanted to give ourselves a treat and pamper our tummies!

We arrived at 5pm (half an hour before the start of dinner session) and there was ALREADY a queue forming and it continues to get longer! We got our 'ticket' and at 5:30pm sharp, staff lined up to welcome its guests and each staff will lead the diners to their respective table!

The restaurant is extremely HUGE and spacious! I took a video to walk-through all the nine stations and it took me 4 MINUTES even though I walked at a faster pace!

Comfortable dining area with ample space between tables for movement and privacy

The restaurant's interior was designed around the concept of a "Harbour Market", hence seafood is the main specialty. You can find fresh crabs, prawns, squid, clams, mussels, scallops, and more! Hubby waited no time to head towards this station first while I prepare to hunt down the Sashimi.

There were so much food up for grabs and we were lost for choices! From soup, vegetarian, seafood, sushi, cooked dish to meat, noodles, salad, dessert. All we can eat to our hearts content.

Fruit section

Harbour Restaurant has the most spacious drink bar that I have ever seen. There are multiple coffee and tea machines, fridge that holds lots of canned drinks, juices and even alcoholic drinks!

Cakes/Dessert section is equally as good! Lots of selection and during the Christmas season, there are also log cakes available!

Make sure you reserve your tummy for Haagen Dazs ice-cream!

For NT850 per pax (before 10% service tax), this is actually a pretty reasonable and worthy deal! It is a delight for our kiddos and for once, we skipped the street food at the night markets and had a very satisfying dinner together!
