Where to stay in Kaohsiung (高雄) - Jia's Inn (佳适旅舍)

This is our first time visiting Kaohsiung (高雄) - second largest city and major industrial center of Taiwan. Located at the south-western coast, tourism has picked up during the recent years, and becoming a popular travel destination. Hence we decided to spend 3 nights in Kaohsiung.

Jia's Inn (佳适旅舍)
Date of Stay : 9 - 11 December 2018

Staying with Jia's Inn was probably my best find ever. Here's why.

STRATEGIC LOCATION
Jia's Inn is located at the heart of the city. which is only 5 minutes walk away from the famous Liouhe Tourist Night Market (六合夜市), and 8-10 minutes walk from Formosa Boulevard Station (美丽岛站) and City Council Station (市議會站). Taking Metro (train) to other places of interest is really easy and accessible.

With Liouhe Night Market just a stone throw away from Jia's Inn, we do not have to worry about feeling hungry at night and packing food back to our room is so convenient.

AFFORDABLE ROOM PRICING
We paid about NT6055 for 3 nights stay. That is about SGD90 per night!

TRENDY HOTEL
The 13-storey hotel has a mix of trendy and nostalgic elements within. Welcome by quirky statues at the entrance, the interior space has wood as its basic colour, matched with retro furniture. If feels at home upon entering even though the Front Desk area is limited.

Front Desk is located at Storey 1. Head to Storey to the Bistro/restaurant where guests have their breakfast. Storey 3 - 13F are the guest rooms, and you can also find washing machines and dryers at Basement 1.

Our room is located on the 11th floor and the corridor has vibrant colours on the walls making the space bright and welcoming.

CLEAN ROOM

We booked a family room suitable for 4 pax that comes with 2 queen beds. Ample space to put your luggage and there is still room for walking. To make the room feels livelier, each room has hand-painted art decorations on the walls.

A comfortable sofa for us to rest on after a long journey. The entire room adopts simple and natural design with earth tone colours.

The complimentary drinks and snacks selection is out of my expectations! We spotted packets of snacks on the table and when we opened the fridge, there were 4 cans of Coca-cola! Initially we were hesitant as canned drinks and snacks are usually chargeable upon consumed. To our delight, they are FREE! Plus, Jia's Inn replenished the canned drinks the next day too! We have cooling drinks every night.

Toilet and shower area is spacious, clean and neat. It has a bathtub within too! No matter how tired or late we were in returning to our room, we always try to soak in the tub at least once during our stay. In the mornings, we will utilise the rain shower for faster cleansing. Toiletries are provided with disposable toothbrushes, shower caps etc provided.

Rain shower is beside the bath tub. Wet and dry areas have been carefully divided so the entire toilet will not be wet.

LAUNDRY

I appreciate hotels that have washing machines and dryers as part of their facilities. This allows us to wash our dirty laundry and minimise the amount of clothing to pack along for our 2 weeks trip. I cannot imagine bringing 15 days worth of clothing and lugging all the dirty load back to wash. Jia's Inn laundry area is at the basement which is clean and brightly lit. Common toilets are at the same level as well.

2 washing machines and 2 dryers are available. Thankfully the machines are still available for use as at times both can be occupied and we may have to wait or seek other alternatives.

We paid NT30 for each washing and drying service. There is a water dispenser and you can grab a cup of water while waiting.

BISTRO/RESTAURANT

Jia's Inn Bistro/restaurant is located at level 2 of the hotel. This is also where guest will have their breakfast. I LOVE the interior design and it looks just like any hipster cafe. Lots of wood colour and injection of retro furnishing makes the area a relaxing place to wind down after a day.

Jia's Inn offers a decent selection of Chinese and Western style breakfast which we are contented with.

Warm and cold beverages are available.

Toast is always our favourite pick to start our day.

Its feels good to sit by the window and take our time to enjoy our first meal of the day. There is no need to rush and we feel relaxed.

I like this concept that many hotels in Taiwan has adopted - having a meal chip on each table to indicate if guests are still dining or they have finished their meal so that staff can clear the table.

We enjoyed our stay at Jia's Inn. Price is reasonable and affordable, wifi connection is stable. Our room is neat and clean, location is strategic and you can get excellent customer service from the staff. Will love to be back again if we are travelling to Kaoshiung.
