The Boys’ Brigade Share-a-Gift (BBSG) 2016

Christmas is a season of giving and sharing. Every year, we will see the boys from Boys' Brigade stationing themselves outside NTUC Fairprice outlets collecting essential household items and consumables for the beneficiaries and we will do our little part to contribute as well. This year, we are happy to help a little more by sending the food hampers to the needy households.

Since 1988, The Boys' Brigade has been seeking to bring cheer to the less fortunate by collecting food items and fulfilling Christmas wishes of the beneficiaries through The Boys' Brigade Share-A-Gift (BBSG) Project. Donors are encouraged to go beyond purely financial giving and instead, actively join in this community project.

BBSG Car Flag-Off was held on 3 Dec, Saturday and there were many who came to support the initiative. We have a total of 5 households to make our delivery to, and each beneficiary receives 2 food hampers. Hubby free up his car boot space as each vehicle is loaded with 10 food hampers containing essential groceries. The Boys' Brigade boys were also on standby to accompany those who may need extra help.

Ms Denise Phua Lay Peng, Mayor of Central Singapore District and MP for Jalan Besar GRC was at the BBSG Car Flag Off to support the event too.

The food hampers were fully loaded and it was challenging for our kiddos to carry them around but they didn't complain. The kiddos are glad to help and we hope to be able to deliver all the 10 hampers to the beneficiaries on our list. Unfortunately, there were some who were not at home to receive the gifts, still we are happy to be able to meet up with others who look forward and was cheery when we stopped at their doorstep.

Mission accomplished! We were left four hampers as two were not at home.

Delivery of food hampers to the beneficiaries is still ongoing from now till 31 December 2016 (excluding eve of and on Public Holidays). There are 2 time slots daily, 10.30am and 2pm. If you wish to contribute and help, do register with The Boys' Brigade at or come down to The Boys' Brigade Headquarters to help out.

Alternatively, if you wish to contribute a gift to the beneficiaries, from now till 19 December 2016, Gift Boxes (for General Wishes) and Wish Tress (for Specific Wishes) are located at various FairPrice outlets island-wide from 11am to 9pm daily. The public can deposit their general food and household items in the Gift Boxes, and fulfill specific wishes of the beneficiaries that are placed on tags on the Wish Trees.

There are 12 collection locations for General Wishes and 6 other Specific Wishes trees island-wide.
Donors can also contribute by purchasing general food and household hampers valued at $20, $30, and $50 via NTUC FairPrice's online portal - or donate cash at any AXS station.
