22 Fried Chicken Factory (韩国炸鸡工厂) - Taman Mount Austin

I guess the craze for Korean food is comparable to the raise in popularity and love for Korean drama. Recent years, we have seen an influx of Korean food into Singapore and even Johor Bahru. Korean Fried Chicken is one of them that has made a standing in the market.

We tried 4 Fingers in Singapore and recently, we drove across the border to try 22 Dul Dul Fried Chicken Factory at Mount Austin (JB).

Stepping into the shop is a walkway directing us to the cashier counter where you can place your order and make payment. Along the sides are shelving filled with Korean snacks products. The interior design of the shop felt like a mini work site. Stop signage, light bulbs, mechanical tools and more filled the space.

It was our first visit and we are thankful to the counter staff who kindly explains and suggest where are the top picks from the menu. For the chickens, we can pick from a few flavours, namely Gangjeong, Garlic, Hot Bbq,  Bul Dak. We decided to go for Garlic and Gangjeong. Lucky for us, there was no queue when we place our orders.

Despite its off peak hours (after lunch hours), most of the seats were still occupied. Our boy was missing in action as he was suffering from diarrhea and a bad tummy ache and had to stay back to rest in the room.

It was a pretty long wait from placement of orders till seeing our number flashing on the screen, indicating the collection of our fried chicken! At this rate, I can imagine how much patience and time you will need during peak hours!

Here's our order - 22 Signature set (rm12.80), Drumsticks 3pc (rm14.80) and 4 pc wings set (rm10.90).

Gloves are provided for diners so that they can put them on to avoid messing their hands. The chickens were nicely deep fried with a thin layer of crispy skin. It is not too oily in my opinion and the meat is tender and sweet. Along with the wedges, it was a heartening meal particularly for our girl.

Even though Gladys prefers the chickens at 4 Fingers compared to 22 Fried Chicken Factory, I must say the pricing here is more attractive. The down side of it is the waiting time. Many customers are seating by their tables waiting for their food while a queue started to form at the counter for orders. Does not seem very efficient to me and a waiting time of 30 minutes felt a little too long. Still, we will be back again on days when there is lesser crowd.. this time with our boy who missed the fun.

I love korean fried chicken! But they are so expensive here in Singapore, so I know what you mean about pricing compared to 4 fingers. Shall check this out the next time I'm at Taman Mount Austin.

Anyway I find waiting time in Malaysia generally slow... no? I think they are just generally more slow-paced compared to Singapore.

It's definitely more attractive dining in JB. We get to try more food there without feeling too much pain in our pockets.

Speed of service wise...I guess it's more relax over there and no one seems to be complaining. 😊
