Staycation @ VIllage Hotel Changi

[Media Invite]

Despite travelling frequently across the border for our short family trips, we still feel most comfortable and secure staying in our homeland. Thanks to Far East Hospitality, our family had the opportunity to experience our first staycation at Village Hotel Changi over the weekend.

Strategically located just 10 minutes drive away from Changi International Airport and half an hour from Orchard Road, Village Hotel Changi is surrounded by lush natural greenery with scenic view of the Changi coastline.  Many might have the impression that it is a quiet and secluded area, but we choose to disagree as this is the place where you can find good food, recreational activities as well as a closer gateway to nature.

We are frequent chalet goers at Changi Village and the unique colourful balcony which lit up in the night remains an icon for Village Hotel that has not fade away over the years. Browsing through the lobby area, I believe some areas within the hotel have undergone refurbishment to give it a chic and neat look.

To ensure that there will be no fighting for bed space, we had 2 adjoining rooms - Deluxe King & Deluxe Twin. I love its brightness and spaciousness, particularly a window view facing the greenery.

I must stay the toilet/bathroom is one of my favourite spot during our stay. :) I adore toilets which are bright, dry and clean. Ours definitely fit the bill, thanks to the glass window panel near the bathtub which allows more light to enter.

Once in a while, it is great to soak our bodies in the tub to rid off the tiredness that we have accumulated. The additional bonus was having a window view of the nature at the comfort of our room. If we need more privacy during shower, particularly with children around, there's always the blinders.

For Denver and Gladys, they are happy to snuggle in their beds just by themselves. Thanks to the connecting rooms, hubby and I managed to catch some quality rest and quiet moments while the kiddos had their own share of fun with their gadgets in the room.

View from the balcony - Lush full greenery.

ACTIVITIES to do within the Hotel

1) Swimming

Swimming is our favourite activity whenever we stay in a hotel. Village hotel has 2 pools - Infinity Pool at Level 8 and Creek Pool at Level 1. We decided to go for the Infinity pool at the top as it has a scenic view of Changi coast and we can see the aeroplanes flying past every other few minutes.

Even though the size of the pool is not very big, but it was relaxing. I like the raised platform where my entire body can lie flat while immersing in the waters. The waters in the infinity pool is shallower, perfect for non-swimmer like myself.

The creek pool is located outside SaltWater Cafe hence we felt a little inconvenient and shy as you have to walk past the cafe to enter the pool area which may attract the attention of the diners there. However this pool is deeper and definitely more suitable for adults who wish to chill out with a glass of wine in the night.

2) Koi Feeding

Located at Level 6 is the Koi Pond where children/adult can feed the koi fishes. Feed is available at $2 per packet. If you take up the Play and Stay package, guests will receive complimentary koi feeding.

3) Dining

Feeling hungry but you do not wish to leave the comfort of the hotel? Village Hotel has a few restaurants you can pick from whether you prefer buffet or fine dining with your family. We had a sumptuous breakfast buffet spread at Saltwater Cafe on Sunday morning and that was extremely satisfying for our kiddos. No rush for time as we spent the entire hour enjoying our meal.

4) Club Lounge

For those staying in the Executive Club Room, you have an additional option to access the executive club lounge for exclusive buffet breakfast and evening cocktails from 6pm to 8pm daily! Too bad we didn't have the opportunity to access the lounge. Maybe next time! :D

5) Workout

Going on a staycation doesn't mean you can't keep up with your fitness. After indulging in an array of good food, head down to the gymnasium located at Level 5 to burn off some fats! Just remember to be dressed in proper sports attire.

That's not all! There's always something to do at Changi Village. Here is a list of activities you can consider when you plan for your next staycation at Village Hotel Changi!

Recommended Outdoor Activities

1) Makan

Changi Village Hawker Centre is one of our favourite food hunt and famous for the wide variety of local delicacies all under one roof. From Nasi Lemak, Hokkien Mee to BBQ chicken wings and Satay. Alternatively, check out the cafes and Seafood restaurants that are located within the vicinity. Whether its day or night, we are always spoil with choices.

2) Cycling

There are bicycle rentals at the shops near the market. Village Hotel Changi guest under Play and Stay package can choose between complimentary bowling session or 2 hours bicycle ride. Alternatively, bring along your bicycle or scooter and ride along the Changi coast.

3) Changi Beach Park

Whether it's cycling, scooting, camping, having a picnic/group barbeque session, playing by the beach or at the playground, chilling at the bars, or watching the low flying aeroplanes flying past, there are many recreational activities where families or groups of friends can engage in at Changi Beach Park.

We had our complimentary cycling ride around Changi Beach Park and explored areas where we did not managed to venture beyond due to the longer distance. It was a nice workout before dinner.

Gladys also stopped by and played at the playground.

We were so close to the aeroplanes as they flew past above our heads.

4) Changi Point Coastal Walk

Take a stroll along Changi Point Coastal Walk and explore the beaches.

5) Pulau Ubin

Escape the hustle and bustle of the city life and catch a ferry ride at Changi Point Ferry Terminal to Pulau Ubin!

Sketch of the greenery during our staycation. :)

We ate, swam, played, cycled and had a great 2D1N stay with Village Hotel Changi. A great getaway from our busy schedule.

We've stayed at Village Hotel Changi a few times. We like that it's pretty serene, but the rooms aren't luxurious compared to other hotels. But it was fun nevertheless - and I'm sure your family had fun too, from the photos!

We've stayed once at Changi Village hotel for a babymoon more than 4 years back, and till today I still can picture the pretty outdoor pool overlooking the sea. Nice hotel to stay and away from the buzz in town.

Infinity pool seems to be the "in" thing at hotels nowadays :) This seems very convenient for business travelers too that need to stay just one or two nights and it's so close to the airport! Will tell my overseas friends about this option :)

Seemed like Gladys had a really good time :-) I would love to try the Play and Stay package, makes me wonder if they have a bowling alley inside?

The infinity pool looks good! And it seems a good staycation place to enjoy the scenery and stuff on the East side of Singapore.

We stayed at Village Hotel Changinover the long National Day weekend and had a really nice escape from the city. We also took Sophie to Pulau Ubin to see how the olden day kampungs look like. And the best part is lots of yummylicious food too from the Changi food centre too.

The pool looks so inviting! My family was considering making a staycation on one of those weekends when we can go explore Ubin. Thanks for 'showing' around :)

We like Changi Village because of the vicinity to good food and the beach. Too bad the haze was looming in the sky.. else it would have been even better.

Definitely a quiet moment for our family. I like it that it was away from town. Peace ^_^

I think its a nice option since it's so close to the airport. ^_^ Plus they get to taste the local delicacies !

I think the bowling alley is one of the bowling centre outside of the hotel. I didn't see one within. Our children enjoy every starvation so long they get to stay away from home. Hahah

It was another experience away from town. It's quieter and near to the beach. Too bad it was hazy else it would have been more enjoyable.

Totally agree! One of the attraction is the good food at Changi village! Plus the beach area and we can see the low flying aeroplanes

The pool does not look as fancy but suits me well as I can just lie down half submerge in the waters and catching the aeroplanes flying past. It was a nice getaway for the family. Too bad we didn't have time to go pulau ubin . Would be more feasible if we stay for 2 nights.
