Nasi Lemak Bungkus with Bottled Ice White Coffee @ Red House (红屋茶餐室)

Tan Hiok Nee Cultural Street - Apart from its rich culture and unique architecture, you can also find good food along the streets. Whenever we travel to Johor Bahru, this seems to be a place that always attract us to return - a taste of traditional breakfast at Kim Wah, join the long queue for Hiap Joo's banana cakes or reminisce about the best chicken chop at IT Roo.

Taking a walk along the cobblestone road and we found ourselves back at the Red House. Our previous dining experience there has been extremely rewarding as we were mesmerized by their Nasi Uduk.  This time, we decided to go for their Special Bottle White Coffee with Ice (rm7.90).

Our family is not a coffee fanatic but I love the idea of having my White Coffee icy cold even after 15 minutes! How is this possible? The bottom layer of the bottle has a layer of frozen ice which helps to keep our drink cooling even after a long time. A sip of the white coffee after our meal remains sweet, smoothing and chilling. :)

Our tummies were pretty filled but we thought a packet of Nasi Lemak wouldn't harm. :) "Bungkus" in Malay means "pack" or "wrap" - In the mornings, you will find packets of pre-packed nasi lemak on the tables. Diners can take a packet (while stock last) and sit down to have their meal.

Each serving of the Nasi Lemak Bungkus contains fragrant rice topped with sambal, a sprinkling of ikan bilis and a small fish. The only slight difference this packet has as compared to the ones I have back home is the sambal. It tasted much spicier which made me gulp down my icy white coffee almost instantly. Not able to take hot stuff pretty well, Hubby took the pleasure to finish up the nasi lemak.

It is difficult to get this type of nasi lemak in S'pore.
