~ Saizeriya - Italian Casual Dining in the heartlands ~

Whenever we think about Italian cuisine, it seems to come with a higher price tag. That is until Saizeriya started introducing causal, low-priced Italian dining into the neighbourhood. Saizeriya is a Japanese chain of family-style Italian restaurants which offers salad, soup, pizza, baked rice, pasta, doria & gratin, hamburger steak and desserts in their menu.

What we like about Saizeriya is their Nett Priced items (inclusive of GST) with no service charge. This probably explains why the crowd queued up at the restaurants during dining hours and Saizeriya opening more outlets around Singapore.

Free flow of drinks is available at $2.80 nett and $1.50 (Mon-Fri,11am-5pm). Children only need to top up $1.40 nett. Hot and cold beverages are available at the self-service drink bar counter and it is free flow for children under 3 years old. Alternatively, you can choose to have a salad and free flow of drinks at $3.90 nett.

There is a call button at the side of every table. When you have decided on your food orders, press the bell to call the attention of the waiters. So far the service crew has been pretty efficient with our orders.

Salad and Foccacia with Garlic Butter (Great Appetizer to start with)

We tried a couple of their gratins and steaks during our visits to Saizeriya. Most of the menu items were pretty affordable ranging from $4.90 to $8.90nett. My personal favourite to date is the Chesse Hamburger Steak $6.90nett.

Saizeriya is a great place for families and friends to enjoy a causal, cheap and reasonable Italian food. I like the variety it has to offer and the overall ambiance and cleanliness of the restaurant is acceptable. Definitely an alternative dining in the heartlands.

Food was alright to us. We didn't have too high an expectation seeing the cost set at a restaurant. It was another option for families to dine apart from food court and fast food. :)
