Back to Nature Fun at Zenxin Organic Park (Kluang)

Early last year, we visited Zenxin Organic Park in Kluang. It was a long drive from the checkpoint but a fruitful one as we get to see many plants, fruits and animals as we walked through the organic farm.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

We arrived at Zenxin Organic Park early in the morning feeling fresh!

Zenxin Organic Park is the first open-to public organic farm in Malaysia. Visitors can choose to visit the farm on foot or by bicycle but you will receive more free gifts if you choose to walk!

We went for the walking route and collected our tickets, cash voucher, pet food and map. :) A very good deal!

Map of Zenxin Organic Park

We orientated ourselves a little on the map before heading out to the farms. The map is clear and easy to read and we set our first destination to visit the nursery and green house.

GREENHOUSE

Stepping out into the vegetable farm did we realised that the entire area is HUGE and it will take hours to walk through them! No wonder they provided the option of cycling.

We continued our walk and brought the children along to the greenhouse area where the vegetation lies.

The farmers were seen busy at work in the morning.

We took our time leisurely, walking through the vegetable farm trying to see if we can identify any crops that are familiar to our eyes.

HAPPY FARM

Our next stop is Happy Farm. This is the area where you get up close to the animals and herbs in the herbal garden. Walk in through the gate, but be careful as you may be greeted by the 'hosts' at the entrance.

The little monkeys who welcomed us at the stairs.

While it may look small on the map, the collection of herbs here is pretty impressive.

Father & son posing with the scarecrow. :) A funny one.

There are so many herbs grown here and there are banners to indicate its usage and preparation which I find it very insightful. I have seen Cat Whiskers at my old workplace and I finally found its name here. Did not realise until now that it is actually useful to treat urinary tract stones, hypertension and diabetes.

Another herb that we found which seems to be helpful for treating rash, and remedy for kidney trouble and lethargy.

This one has an interesting name and it is useful for treating injury and fracture. Just mash the fresh leaf and apply.

Children get to observe, feel, smell, and touch the plants. It felt like a learning journey for our family.

Look out for the banners and interesting fun facts can be found around the organic farm.

PET AREA

Our children favourite zone

Initially we were observing the ducks from the outside of the fence. We managed to catch a closer glimpse of the ducks and their duck eggs when one of the staff opened the door and we stood by the entrance and watched.

Remember the free pet food that we got at the main entrance? The children have been holding on to them and they finally get to use them to feed the rabbits. The rabbits were roaming around freely in the pet area when we walked in. We got really up close to the furry bunnies and they were not afraid of strangers at all. Probably pretty much accustomed to welcoming guests everyday.

This is the time where children gets to feed , play and spend some time with the rabbits.

DRAGON FRUIT FARM

We walked on to our next destination - Dragon fruit farm where we learnt more about Dragon fruits here. Dragon fruit is also known as Pitaya. It belongs to the cactus family and each plant can survive for 100 years!

Noticed the plastic bags covering the fruit? This is to protect the fruit from being attacked by the insects.

Do you know that there are 3 types of dragon fruit colours - red skin with white flesh, red skin with red flesh and yellow skin with white flesh. Dragon fruits benefits our body as it aids constipation problems, rich in vitamins, helps to reduce cholesterol and has anti-oxidant and anti-aging properties.

MULBERRY FARM

Next on - Mulberry Farm!

I was expecting to see the red berries on the trees... but only to realise that they have just been harvested and in the containers!

Nevertheless, I spotted some left on the trees. Some were very green while some just turned red.

These berries would be lovely to make mulberry tea. :)

Before we end our walk at the farm, we stood at the viewing gallery and had a paranormal view of the scenic Zenxin Organic Park which spans about 100 acre. This is how far we have walked since morning!

We made our way back to the park entrance and brought the children to catch some fish,

Even though there were many fishes in the pond, it was not easy to catch them. The fishes wriggled their tails and swam off as soon as the nets were in the waters. Denver & Gladys spent a lot of time and ended up with only 1 or 2 fishes in their pails. It was fun and good effort from their side though. :) Before we leave, the children gladly released the fishes back into the waters.

Did we mentioned that we were starving by then? Of course we were! Thankfully, there is a restaurant within the park - Chef Garden Restaurant, which serves organic meals using the freshly harvested organic produce from the farm.

Despite the long drive from the checkpoint, the trip was worthwhile as we spent half a day at the organic farm learning more about the crops and herbs. The children enjoyed themselves tremendously getting up close to the animals, seeing so many plants and being back to the nature. We would love to visit Zenxin again for another walk and meal when we are back in Kluang on our next road trip.

It's an actual farm! Thanks for sharing. I think it's important for the kids to know where food actually comes from; not the supermarket shelves!
