Chuan Chuan Le 川串乐 - A taste of Szechuan

It was a Saturday night and we were looking out for a place to have our family dinner together. By chance, we stepped into Chuan Chuan Le 川串乐 at Jalan Besar and was delighted to see a good variety of food on its menu comprising of BBQ skewers, traditional sze chuan mala dishes, stir fry, soup, staple food, cold dishes, Chef's Special etc.

We ordered some BBQ skewers and other dishes to try and was pleasantly surprised by the flavour and taste of the food that were served.

Chuan Chuan Le has assorted BBQ Skewers with price from $1 onwards. We ordered pork belly, beef, sausage and mantou. Thankfully they served sausages and not hotdogs which we had at another restaurant. The meat are nicely marinated that is not over empowering or spicy. It was just nice for our palates.

All meat on the skewers were already cooked and only placed on the plate with a small candle fire beneath to keep them warm.

Yummy Grilled Mantou on skewers ($1 each)

One of our favourite has to be the beef noodles ($8.8). Definitely worth the price tag as it is a big bowl filled with lots of beef and noodles. The soup is sooooo delicious that we would have slurp it all up if not because we had so much food on the table! Unlike the other beef noodles that I tried, the broth is thick and has a different flavour and aroma. The beef is tender and juicy and honestly, one bowl is enough to fill our tummy already.

Mapo Tofu ($10.80) is our children's favourite dish. Hence it is a must order whenever we see a place that serves this dish. Thankfully it is not too spicy and overwhelming. Our boy loves this dish as it is more authentic than the one I cooked at home. :)

The only dish that I find was a bit of disappointment is the Fried rice with egg ($6.80). It tastes too bland but thankfully, we had mapo tofu to beef up the flavour, making it easier for us to finish the plate.

The children don't take Eggplant (Brinjal) but this is one of my favourite vegetable (especially in curry fish head). Hubby ordered Grilled Eggplant ($5) and I thought it will only be shared among us. Surprisingly, the children love the grilled version thanks to the spices and how it was marinated and cooked.

Free 2 cold dishes on the house. Nice and refreshing!

Steamed soup dumplings is our favourite and 8 dumplings for $6.80 is pretty worth it! Though the skin of the dumplings is a bit too thick, the soup and meat stuffed within is tasty!

We only remembered to take a photo after we were almost done with our meal. Total Damage: $95

Only a few tables (indoors and outdoors) on its first floor but there is more seating on the 2nd level. From their official Facebook page, there is a private dining room with karaoke. Place is rather new as they just had their official opening in May 2022. Second outlet is located in Ubi.
