Taiwan 8D7N Free & Easy Tour - Shifen Waterfall (十分瀑布) & Shifen Old Street (十分老街)

Day 6 into our 8D7N Taiwan trip and we are geared up to be out for the whole day through the night, covering a couple tourist attractions. Thankfully, we engaged a driver thru Wendy who drive us around, and took beautiful photos. This saved us time to travel around on our own.

We were picked up from Taipei M Hotel early in the morning and set off to our first destination - Shifen Waterfall (十分瀑布), arriving before 10am. There was a slight drizzle when we reached the  suspension bridge - 观瀑吊桥. Nevertheless, the rain did not dampen our mood.

We walked ahead to get a more scenic shot of the waterfall. Love the greenery and lesser crowd compared to the central location.

Gorgeous morning walk by the waterfall as we arrived at the best spot to admire the beauty of 十分瀑布

To return back to the visitor centre, we have to climb up a flight of stairs up. It was pretty wet and slippery hence wearing a good pair of non-slip shoes helped if you are planning to enjoy a scenic walk at Shifen.

We hopped back into the vehicle and moved on to Shifen Old Street (十分老街) which is not too far away from Shifen Waterfall.

I instantly fall in love with the nostalgic charm exhibit from the old street and the railroad tracks that run through the street. A beautiful sight that one cannot miss when you are in Taiwan.

Oddly, we did not get to see the train whizzing down the tracks throughout our visit. That gave us ample time to pose and take pictures by the railroad.

Another main attraction to do at Shifen Old Street is to light and releasing of the sky lantern. Each sky lantern cost about NT150-200. Apparently the different colours represent different wishes.

Seeing a massive crowd at the inner lanes of the old street, we decided to just get a lantern from the shop at the very front. Penning our wishes on four sides of the lantern and letting it off in the sky.

At Shifen Old Street, there are also food stall selling Taiwan delicacies. We ended up getting ourselves some nougat before leaving.

One last pose before we leave for JinGuaShi (金瓜石)
