Edu-tainment Trail @ City Square Mall
May marks the start of Examination and our children are busy preparing for their up-coming Semester Examination (SA1). While we have been hopping between libraries where they can self-study in a conducive environment, they also needed a break away from the books.
Yesterday, we joined 2 other families for a Edu-tainment Trail at City Square Mall. We started off with entertainment where the children played at the Eco-Playground, an environmentally-friendly playground where the equipment is made of wood sourced from forest product producers that are certified by Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).
What I like about the playground is the usage of wood material that does not feel as hot in the scorching weather. The colourful merry-go-round seems to be the favourite apart from the swing and see-saw.
City Square Mall is known to be a Eco-friendly Mall but do you know what are the eco-friendly features within? We learned that the Green Roof has solar panels which harness solar energy to power fresh air cooling for the Fountain Square. Each level in City Square Mall has a unique theme and you can find them near the lift area. Everyone can shop with an eco-learning experience.
What we learnt through the trail. One of it was spotting the huge Angsana tree in City Green which was conserved during the construction phase.
We stopped by for lunch at the newly opened noodle house - Face to Face Noodle House (面对面). With many outlets in Malaysia, serving assorted noodle selection on its menu, it opened its first outlet in Singapore. More about Face to Face Noodle House in a separate post.
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Active, Beautiful, Clean Waters (ABC Waters) programme, PUB has designed a collection of 10 life-sized Water Wally figurines (Water Wally Explores ABC Waters) to showcase the features and activities that the community can enjoy at the ABC Waters sites. City Square Mall is the first mall to display such figurines!
We had a few spins on the wheel but did not win the Water Wally Plushy!! Nevertheless, we had a few keychains and lovely calendars to take home.
The weather has been getting really hot in the months of April. Do you know that Singapore was hit by dry spell in 2014 that affected the water levels in our reservoirs? Although Singapore is hot and humid throughout the year, we experience changes in temperature and variation in rainfall that makes up the different seasons.
Initiated by PUB, Singapore's national water agency, the images of four seasons in Singapore were curated in collaboration with a local Instagram community, instaSG. The images were exhibited yesterday.
I really enjoyed the instagrammers' impression of Singapore where heavy rainfall brilliantly reflect the cool wintry season and the carpet of fallen leaves and wilted shrubs felt like Autumn.

The kiddos had fun spinning.
