Water bomb and Fish Catching at Bishan Park

It was a beautiful Vesak Day morning and we meet up with Andy's & Johnny's family for the long-awaited gathering after the children's mid-year examinations!

Earlier, the 3 families have made plans for water bombing session at Bishan Park, hence we prepared plastic bags, pails and extra clothing all set for a round of splashing fun!

First, we need to find a shady spot to lay our mats and an open space for the children to run!

Next, we got the boys to help fill up the buckets with water. The crucial step is the making of the water bombs!

The younger ones have received valuable lessons on how to make water bombs. Too much water in the plastic bag makes it hard to secure while too little water does not provide enough power, weight and impact.

Everyone chip in to help and we made over 100 water bombs in minutes.

It is time to Battle! The children were separated into 2 groups and the fight to stay dry begins! Let's take a look at both teams! All fiery and ready to attack! Adults have to take cover during photo-shooting session.

Team 1

Team 2

Here they go! Singapore's very own 泼水节!

"I got no more bullets, give me yours!"

While the 2 group leaders were targeting against each other, The other team members have also locked on to their 'prey'.

Within minutes, all the water bombs have been exhausted.  Nevertheless, the 10 minutes of running, laughing and sabotaging has been tremendously fun!

*Note: We also ensured the children clear up the rubbish that was left behind. After all, it is important to keep our park clean and green!

What's unique about Bishan park is the little stream where you can find little fishes within. We made our way down the slope and I am happy to see the children enjoying themselves and did not mind getting their feet muddy and wet under the hot weather condition.

Seeing this feels like going back to the Kampong days. A rare experience and sight. Fun can be that simple.

Safety measures and precautions has to be in place even in the shallow waters as it can be slippery and the debris from the stones may cut. The kiddos wore slippers and made their way slowly in the waters.

Despite having no luck with the fishes, it was the company that matters. Looking forward to our next meet up session!

Stretching over 62 hectares, there are a lot of outdoor activities you can enjoy at Bishan Park - Picnic, ball games, scooting, blowing bubbles and more!

Not sure how to get here? Check out the map on Nparks. Our picnic site was near the red dot. Being first timers, our friends advised us to park at the car park near Blk 241 where it is closer to McDonald. We ended parking our car at the open car park near Canopy Garden Dining & Bar.

I used to play waterbombs with my sec sch classmates! This brings back so much fond memories. :) I would love to bring the kids to waddle in that little stream at Bishan Park too.

I remember reading this post when you first published! I love water bomb and I think my girls would love it too. When they are older I hope to plan one bombing session for their birthdays! Not quite looking forward to the picking up after the fun though.

Next time can bring along fishing net. The smaller nets work best! The kids can catch longkang fishes for free ♡

haha it was fun! Well, many have went to catch the fish, so I guess it was pretty ok. Didn't see any signboard about not allowing public to do longkang fishing :)
