~ Authentic Mun Chee Kee Pig's Organ Soup ~

We usually dine out with our kiddos during the weekends. As we are big eaters, to avoid the hassle thinking what individual preferences are, and at the same time being as economical as we can, very often we find ourselves ordering a few dishes and sharing the food.

Hubby always enjoy a bowl of pig's organ soup and naturally, he spotted this stall along Jalan Besar after we finished our shopping. Apprently, Mun Chee Kee is pretty popular, with a long history and a couple of outlets in Singapore. This new outlet for example, is nicely setted with wooden tables and benches. The huge, outstanding posters backdrop depicting Singapore in the older 60s, and clearly labeled price menu definitely caught our eyes to step in and give it a try.

Green tea and Lemonade @ 0.50 cents each. Somehow, I enjoy my cold drinks being served in metal cups, giving me that extra cooling feel and enjoyment. ^_^

My personal favourite - Preserved vegetables (梅菜) - $2. Will not miss ordering this one if I am having my Bak Ku Teh. I like my 梅菜 to be sweet to go with the white rice and this definitely suit my tastebud in terms of sweetness and softness. The only minus point is there's too much oil.

Braised Pig Trotters - A pretty sinful dish but its also one of our favourite. This dish also comes with black vinegar but knowing the children and I dislike vinegar, Hubby ordered the normal braised pig trotters instead. Our kiddos love the meat as well as its skin. This is good to share among the family as it would be too much for one to manage.

Finally, the main attraction and a must order dish if you are at Mun Chee Kee. Pig's organ soup - $5.50. We enjoyed the soup which is not too pepperish or oily. A good mixture of toufu, meat balls, mixed organs and vegetables. It goes perfectly well with rice if you are dining alone.

We spent about S$15 for our dinner (including 2 cups of drinks and 4 bowls of rice) and our tummies are full with satisfaction. The stall is well ventilated by ceiling fans and it is located in the heart of Jalan Besar. A nice place to enjoy and share your meal with family and friends.

The design of the shop is nice. And they even use the stainless steel cup. That all give me a special feeling. Hardly find such shop in Penang.
